You could actually make fun of this game for it's production being so on and off. Well it's on again. This time from Cryptic Studios. Check out the trailer.
Quote: Details surrounding Perpetual Entertainment's dealings subsequent to the cancellation of Gods & Heroes are coming to light as Ten Ton Hammer uncovered court documents of a new complaint just submitted to California's Superior Court last week. The allegation: the San Francisco-based developer fraudulently transferred valuable assets (like the Star Trek Online license) to an insider-owned corporation at a loss, leaving those with a financial stake in the now-defunct MMORPG Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising without hope of payment save legal recourse.
Puch.
Some highlights:
Quote: ...Kohnke alleges that the scheme to defraud Perpetual's creditors goes far deeper than paper transfers to a malformed corporation. According to Kohnke, Perpetual cancelled Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising in some part due to between $80,000 and $280,000 in incentives that would be owed to Kohnke upon the launch of the moribund game and the subsequent financial impact on the development of Star Trek Online.
Quote: ...one has to wonder if Perpetual went forward with its incredibly flagrant scheme either in a complete vacuum of legal counsel or, more likely, with the idea that the risk was worth the potential rewards. That is, that losing a few 10Gs in court could mean continuing development on Star Trek Online, business as usual. After all, the lack of co-litigants on Kohnke's side seems to mean that Perpetual kept its list of creditors fairly short.

Why can't people just do the right thing? Ah, yes. Because they are frac...

HomeLAN chats with Joe Keene of Perpetual Entertainment as he gives us some early details on the upcoming MMORPG Star Trek Online. Here is a snip:
HomeLAN - The game is slated to launch in 2007. Why announce the game so far in advance?
Joe Keene - We wanted to engage the collective imagination about the possibilities and promise of a well-executed Star Trek MMOG. You’d be amazed by the outpouring of positive feedback we’ve received from gamers and Star Trek fans, many of whom have very strong opinions about what the game should be, and many more of whom are just delighted – and relieved – to know that Star Trek will get this platform. It’s no secret that Star Trek games have met with mixed success in the past and we think a lot of gamers and fans had become discouraged. We think Star Trek is the perfect property for a modern MMOG and we want to get people excited about that potential.
Thats right! Apparently some users have discovered hidden images on the official Star Trek website. Most were quickly removed but here is the one which someone had saved:
